What did you want to be growing up?

I wanted to be an astronaut at first. Then when I saw how much school that was, I moved to meteorologist. Then astrologist. Then storm chaser. Then teacher. Eventually I decided that I would let the universe decide for me.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

I grew up in a traditional Catholic Mexican household. Most of my childhood was rooted in structure and similarity. We would wake up at the same time for school, eat the same meals every week, go to church every Sunday, and do it all over again. And for me, that was just normal life. It wasn’t until I entered middle school and made a group of friends that I embarked on a new exploration of the arts, my own culture, and the possibilities I could have for my future. During this time, I began to learn more about my heritage by participating in Folkloric Dances, while simultaneously exploring new music and growing into the person I would become. I liked the idea of becoming a rockstar and becoming well known for something. In a way, I became different people for different parts of my life. I learned more about other cultures and how others saw life. I read more, listened to new music, traveled, and met incredible people along the way. In a sense, I became influenced by multiple cultures. I always knew the world was much bigger than I knew, and so I started learning about it.

What does home mean to you?

Home is the idea of feeling love and welcomed. I know some people say Home is where you feel safe, but I’ve been to places that I’ve felt safe, but not welcomed. And I think that’s a very important thing for me. I’ve considered Home many places, not by the security that I feel, but by the people I’m surrounded by. Home to me has been a couch in New Orleans, or a trampoline in the middle of the woods, or even a basement in a snowstorm. I felt loved in those places. The feeling of comfort will always be secondary. Because I can feel safe in the comfort of my own car. But feeling loved makes everything better.

What does art mean to you?

Art is and will always be everything to me. Since I’ve embarked on discovering new cultures, my life has been ingrained in art. Art is the beat of the drum as I hit it with each stick. Art is the new taste that enters my mouth when trying foods from around the world. Art is the music from the other side of the world that I don’t understand, but I can listen and feel all the same. Art is the appreciation and connection I have when seeing someone create something with their own two hands. Art are the words that someone will write that will speak heavily into my soul. And art is the picture that I take that will forever encapsulate a moment in time and be seen by others who will appreciate it just as much as I did when I took it. Art is everything and everyone. It is what gives meaning to this meaningless world.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

The only advice I can give you, the reader, is to continue moving forward. Life doesn’t always get easier, but it does get better. There are days when I know that I can do whatever my heart desires, but there are also days where I wish I could just sleep forever. Regardless, you just must keep moving forward. It took me a long time to appreciate the life that I have, and even longer to fully embrace it. Where I am now is not somewhere I’d imagined I’d be ten years ago, but I’ll forever be grateful for the memories I’ve created, the people I’ve met, and the story that has unfolded. And life will continue to move forward, but so will you.

I don’t really know… maybe A restaurant owner.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

The arts kept me busy and off the streets. Art was such a positive influence on me as a person. It molded me as an individual, totally helping me out of depression and away from drugs and alcohol.

What does home mean to you?

Home is where you build your safety, where your family is.

What does art mean to you?

Art is expressing yourself, art is inspiration, and art is ideas coming to life. Art is a like a colorful flowing melody.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

I was born and raised in Guanajuato, Mx. Growing up in Mexico, influenced by such a rich culture, big and loving family, and vibrancy, has influenced who I am not only as an artist but human being. It created a huge interest in community and culture development in my career and has opened my eyes to different perspectives in life after moving to United States.

What does home mean to you?

Home has had different meanings for me before and after becoming an immigrant. I used to think home was a place but after moving to U.S. I realized home is the love and happiness I carry anywhere I go. It’s the people I love, whether they're close or far in distance, the cultures I am exposed to that make my life rich, and anywhere I feel present, safe, and open to happiness.

What does art mean to you?

Art has been my safe place but also the place that challenges me the most. Going through immigration, art was my escape and the way I found a voice and in such a process. It also ended in becoming my career which requires lots of dedication, faith and love for myself and my community. Having a career in the arts and making a good life out of it requires you to be a top artist and understand culture. That's something I work on every day to achieve. It’s definitely not an easy career but it is so worth it.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

Prioritize yourself, your passions, and your health. It’s the biggest act of love you can do.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

I was a confused child. My parents were Latinos, but I was raised to be as white as possible in order to fit in better. So, my true culture did not have enough of an influence on me as it should have. But Houston hood culture had a huge influence on me.

What does home mean to you?

A place to go to escape the realities of the world. A place to rest and recover. My safe place.

What does art mean to you?

Art to me is the expression of your inner feelings without any limitations. Art should just come out naturally. Art allows us to see within the soul of the artist, even if we don’t understand what we are seeing.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

Find your true self and be honest with it. I find that we are at our best when we keep it simple and stick to our moral fundamentals. As we get older, we sometimes forget who we are, or who we were. I feel it’s important to keep a grasp on your true self and go back to basics. Love yourself, love your neighbor, love your brothers and sisters, honor your parents, and find inner peace.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

My world opened up through my exposure to the arts and culture. I was able to comprehend and appreciate existence outside of my own personal experiences.

What does art mean to you?

Art is the most vital component of our existence. It is what makes us human.

What did you want to be growing up?

A Prima Ballerina

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

I didn’t have much exposure to the art world until I was an adult. My interest and passion for the arts started with poetry as a child, and then continued in my teens with ballroom dancing. That carried me for years until I was 18/19, and I finally stepped into the world of painting.

What does home mean to you?

Home is the people that show up for you. The people who help you carry your burdens when they get too heavy. Who call just because they hadn’t heard from you in a while. Home is my son. Home is my car, who’s taken me and my son across the country and back time after time. Home is my partner.

What does art mean to you?

Art is such a hard thing to define. It’s the expression and relation of human experience through an immense range of mediums.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

Figure out what your values are and stick to them. Follow your own interests and follow your heart, and you will begin to attract others on a similar path, with a similar mindset. Don’t be afraid to surround yourself with people who don’t agree with everything you’re doing. This is one of many ways we grow.

What did you want to be growing up?

I really wanted to be in game art and design, creating new games and worlds for people to get lost in.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Art was what always made me feel like things would be ok. I wouldn't exactly say my upbringing was a traditional Hispanic or creole upbringing. Through everything I went through in life, art was my way to make sense of what I was going through without having to talk with anyone about it.

What does home mean to you?

Home is my sanctuary I make memories in with my kids. It’s the place full of loud, happy noises and the best chaos possible. It might not always look very awesome, but it’s comfy and always has all the things we need.

What does art mean to you?

Art isn't just how I pay my bills, it's what makes it possible for me to retain my mental stability. Without it I wouldn't be here.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

If you ever feel like you are being crazy and out of hand...just rock some grippy socks willingly instead of having to make anyone force you into wearing them. There's no reason to avoid a psych stay if it's actually possible for you to go have one when you need it. No one will give you an award for prolonging your mental suffering.

What did you want to be growing up?

Musician / Rockstar

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Culture has had a lot of influence on me growing up and I think it's almost impossible for it to not have an impact on anybody living in society. From music to food to art, culture influences what we admire and aspire to be. I think I was a very angsty teen, and I related a lot to rock music, and I think that had a huge influence in what I think is cool and how I aspire to be. At the same time, growing up in a melting pot and being exposed to Mexican music and cuisine made me proud of my roots but also appreciate that, like my culture, there's something to appreciate from every walk of life and everyone has something different to offer and that's really beautiful.

What does home mean to you?

Home to me is anywhere you feel safe. Safe enough to be yourself and you feel comfortable enough to kick back and relax. I'm very lucky that I feel like I have many homes in that sense.

What does art mean to you?

Art to me is an expression of self. As a musician there’s a lot that I’m able to emote within a song without having to be fully vulnerable. I think that’s why people find such comfort in music, in a painting, a photograph or anything that can represent art. It’s relatable through the vision that the artist has, and everyone can experience that in a unique way because we all have loved a unique experience.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

One piece of advice I’d give others is to recognize what it is that inspires them and continue to be inspired. Be human and recognize what that means. You will fall short; you will fail in life, but you will keep going and you will continue repeating this process over and over again. Embrace that process and make something great out of it.

What did you want to be growing up?

When I was growing up, I really wanted to be the president for some odd reason.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Growing up as a Mexican American, art wasn't something I really focused on until I was a junior in high school. I always saw how awesome and creative my parents were. My mom made these authentic Mexican dishes like pozole, mole, and tamales and let's be real, it’s an art. She could also make pieces of colorful clothing with a sewing machine.  My dad could build things from scratch. I don't think they ever saw it as art, but as I started growing up, I saw it as such. I knew I wanted to make art, but until high school I wasn't sure what medium to use, but a switch flipped, and I started to become more aware of the hidden beauty in my surroundings and I wanted to capture this somehow. I found I liked photography in high school, and I really started to focus on the little details. It became something that helped me get through a lot of bad times while also creating something meaningful to me.

What does home mean to you?

Home is where my family is. I can be anywhere in the world and won't quite feel right without my family and vice versa. I am from Houston, so this is considered my hometown, but if my family isn't here, it isn't quite home.

What does art mean to you?

Everything in the world is art. Art is everywhere if you concentrate and see it. I simply like to capture art through photography which is also art. We just have to take a moment to see the beauty around us.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

Some advice for others is that tomorrow is a new day. No matter what bad things happen today, time will go on and we must be optimistic that things will get better or else we are just setting ourselves up for failure.

When I was 13, I realized I wanted to be an artist. Once I discovered the world of tattooing, I couldn’t get it out of my mind since.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Creating art brought joy into my life that I never knew I could experience. The act of creating art, in and of itself, has saved my life more than once.

What does home mean to you?

Home is a safe place, where I can create my art and escape from everywhere else in the world. To me, home feels like peaceful solitude.

What does art mean to you?

Art is freedom. Freedom to express myself, or to not express myself at all, and choose to see things from the perspective of others. It’s freedom from the day-to-day, worldly, and mundane. It’s almost a spiritual and sacred experience to me.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

I lived in fear of my own dream for a very long time, and sometimes I’m still afraid of it. I am afraid I will fail. But that’s the funny thing about dreams: if you want it so badly that it scares you, you must chase it. You only have one life, and you must live it. Live it now. Not later. Now.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

My artist’s name is Geisha. It means to be art. My grandma taught me a lot of the Japanese culture because she lived there during the war times as my grandfather was serving in the wars. From there I have let my life experience guide me through what I express with my art.

What does home mean to you?

Home means a place where you don’t have to hide any part of yourself. Where your raw authentic self is loved and appreciated for every facet of who you are.

What does art mean to you?

It’s a life force for me and the essence of who I am. It always grounded me and helped my mind to feel calmer. It’s a world where nothing was limitless.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

Do not limit yourself to living life. You never know what could happen and what is possible. So, give your full effort and move with pure intention. The world will unfold for you.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

What did you want to be growing up?

When I was younger, I always wanted to work as a music teacher or be a full-time musician.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Coming from a Mexican background, I can tell you that it showed me the joy that music and art bring to everyday life. To be able to find beauty in almost every little, small detail really adds more to life than one cares to admit. This pushes me to always have some sense of music or art in my house and daily life to decorate around me.

What does home mean to you?

The word home to me means finding any place or person that makes you feel at peace with yourself, and with them.

What does art mean to you?

I believe Art is the self-expression of one's true self. Straight from the heart and soul. We don't think when we create. We usually let ourselves run and don't ask if it's going right or wrong. We speak out in a way to say, "I'm feeling this way or please notice this off me", or "how does this makes me feel". I once heard the saying, "music is the voice of the soul." So, I guess in the end, art is the heart that brings it to life.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

I would like to tell people, to please take that step to do everything that scares you. You don't know how far you'll go if you try. Sometimes our dreams seem like just dreams, until we say no more and go and make them a reality. Anyone and everyone can do it and make something of it. Hard work, dedication, and a bit of falling and getting back up and luck can take you a long way.

What does home mean to you?

Home to me means being surrounded by the people who love you. Oh, and your pets.

What does art mean to you?

I think doing any format of art is a really great way to leave tracks of your life, almost like writing a diary. And years later you can always go back to what you had created in the past and remember what event you were going through or what thoughts you had while writing that song or making that painting. Art is the memories we make that we want to make sure we don’t forget.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

“If one does not contend, then no one in the world can contend with him.” This is one of my favorite idioms from my mother’s tongue (Mandarin). It brings me peace and mental freedom from a lot of things.

What did you want to be growing up?

I didn't have a clear goal set in mind growing up for what I wanted to be. I did always gravitate towards food and especially desserts. Over time I slowly started picking up baking and found my love and passion for it. Creating a form of art that can be appreciated both visually and on your pallet.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Growing up as a Mexican American I was exposed to various sweets in my culture. Such as sweet bread like conchas, mantecadas, arroz con leche, chocoflan, tres leches, etc. These were part of what inspired me to look further beyond my own culture and see what else the world offered.

What does home mean to you?

When someone describes home it's usually a place that is comfortable and safe. That being said. Home to me doesn't mean a place nor a person. To me it’s more of a feeling. Home is finding comfort where I am. Where I feel at peace and safe. Where all the noise of life disappears.

What does art mean to you?

When I think about art, I know how different it is based on an individual's perspective. To me, art is finding beauty in what I see. The passion I have for baking and pastries is my form of art. Where I can create something that can be appreciated by someone and know that they find beauty in it. Art is a form of expression that allows individuals to show others who they are as a person.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

A piece of advice that I would give anyone is that no matter what part of life you are in, have patience as everything will fall into place. Living isn't black and white. The time you allow something to grow will determine how much you will reap. So be patient and if you feel as if you're not where you want to be, then it may not be time yet.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Being of Mexican decent, hard work was valued and influenced my work ethic. I’m naturally good at all the boring types of stuff, even though no one in my home was an artist in the traditional sense of the word. Everyone just made things. My grandpa was a gardener, my mom a seamstress, my uncle worked in remodeling. I always admired them because they could create something out of the materials they were given. My mom was always very supportive of all my endeavors. She found classes for me to take like art, ballet, and different instruments. Despite our financial limitations, she always made sure I had the exposure and opportunity to at least try them out.

What does home mean to you?

Home to me is peace and safety. It’s where you go when the world gets too cruel or too difficult. I’m lucky enough to be very close to my family and anytime I’m going through something hard I can at least call them. I’ve lived on my own for the past 5 years and one thing that I’m extremely proud of is how everyone that has ever stayed with me will mention how relaxed and safe they feel in my house. My mom says she sleeps better and longer. My drunk friend walked in and literally said “I feel so safe here”. My little cousin was going through a breakup and her immediate solution was wanting to move in with me. And I think part of the reason people feel that way is because I have created a home for myself where I can feel safe and comfortable, and it’s felt.

What does art mean to you?

Art to me is creation, it’s everything and everywhere. I think art can be found in the most mundane of places. Everything from the people that design buildings to the people that make the labels on the snacks we pick up at the gas station. Everything we see and touch has been imagined by someone at some point.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

The ultimate advice I can give anyone and would love to give my younger self is that life is a lot simpler than it seems. It’s just about waking up every day and trying your best and trying to be a good person. There’re days when your best might look like waking up at 5am and going to the gym, eating healthy, and killing it at work. And there’s going to be days when your best is waking up at noon, eating a bowl of cereal, and sleeping all day. And that’s okay. Your best is not going to look the same every day and giving yourself grace is far more helpful than beating yourself up over not being perfect.

Being a good person is just about living your life and trying to be a positive presence. Like yes, maybe give to charities and your spare change to someone in need and all that counts, but on a smaller scale, just compliment people and make them feel good about themselves. Listen to people going through a hard time and help them if they need it. Being a good person is simply impacting people’s lives in a positive way no matter how big or small. Life is complicated, and we all must participate. There’re taxes, traffic, breakups, deaths, but in the ever-changing rollercoaster of life, trying your best and being a good person should always be your constant.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Growing up as a first-generation Brazilian immigrant, staying in touch with my roots was always a huge part of our household. Watching Brazilian TV, soccer, listening to music (especially samba and Bossa Nova!), art and all the incredibly rich culture Brazil had to offer has always been a huge part of my life, and is particularly important to me since it was one of the only things that kept the connection alive between me and my country of origin.

What does home mean to you?

Home is where you belong, where your friends and family are. It’s where you feel the most at ease culturally. I have many homes that are near and dear to me. The distance often makes it hard, but I am also grateful to have such a deep connection with different places.

What does art mean to you?

It’s the full expression of our humanity, of who we are and seek to be at the deepest level. It’s therapy. It’s meditation. It’s connecting with others. It’s creating something beautiful. It’s community, gathering around and enjoying with others. It’s slowing down and appreciating the small things, while connecting it with our day to day lives. It’s exposing yourself and making your true self known. It is one of the most beautiful and essential parts of the human experience.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

That thing you’ve been meaning to do, that dream you’ve been meaning to follow - go for it. Even if you have to start small, even if you’re scared or doubt yourself. Time is the most precious commodity we have. Go for it and don’t look back.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

My primary cultural influences as a child were actually Japanese and Latino. Yet as I got older, I started to appreciate Hispanic culture, especially that of Latin America.

What does home mean to you?

For me, home is not just a physical location. Within the location or community, there is a lovely blending of joy, love, and harmony.

What does art mean to you?

When it comes to art, everything has value, from the surroundings that The Most High created to the smallest details that people have hand-crafted. Hey, sound is a type of art in and of itself. It is all around you! The meaning of art can vary greatly depending on the viewpoints of the artists and the audience.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

Home is where I feel safe. It’s that sense of comfort I don’t feel anywhere else. It makes me understand that no matter what, at the end of the day, I’ll always have that place that makes me feel at peace, no matter how the rest of the day was.

What does art mean to you?

Art is something someone pours their soul, heart, and time into to create and share something with the world. Something that anyone can take with themselves, like a piece of what the artist is.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

My advice to someone is to never depend on anything or anyone. You are your biggest obstacle. You only get as far as you want to get.

The advice that I recommend to others is to always prioritize themselves, especially their mental health. Life will never stop throwing you hardships. So, it’s better to face them in order to become a stronger person. And when it does feel tough, just smile through it. You might even be able to deceive your own happiness.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

I wasn't really exposed to a lot as a kid, growing up in a religious family. When I turned 16, I started playing guitar with a bunch of metal heads and I started listening to more and more music and experiencing more art as well. Since then, I've studied music for 10 years and been exposed to all kinds of people working as a bartender. I've seen the worst in people, I've seen the best in people. I've become more comfortable with who I am and my place in the universe.

What does home mean to you?

Wherever my heart is. You can find your home in other people's hearts as well.

What does art mean to you?

Expression of one's inner self.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

Focus on what you can fix and don't stress about what you can't. In the grand scheme of things, we're but a speck of dust flying through space. Thinking of the past causes depression. Thinking of the future gives me anxiety. Learn to live in the moment. The present is a gift after all.

What did you want to be growing up?

When I was younger, I always had a strong desire to help others, particularly in the healthcare field. As a result, I pursued a career in nursing and enrolled in a nursing program in college. However, as I progressed through the program, I realized that nursing wasn't the right fit for me. I found myself more interested in the scientific and research aspects of healthcare, rather than the direct patient care that nursing involves. I wanted to explore these interests further and decided to switch my major to biotechnology. While it was a difficult decision to make, I knew that I needed to follow my passions and pursue what truly interested me. In biotechnology, I have been able to learn about exciting new technologies and treatments that have the potential to make a significant impact in healthcare.  While I miss the direct patient care aspect of nursing, I am excited about the potential impact I can make in the field of biotechnology. Who knows, perhaps one day my work in this field will help improve the lives of countless patients around the world.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

As a teenager, I was a big fan of the anime series “Fullmetal Alchemist”. The show had a deep and complex story that explored themes of sacrifice, redemption, and the consequences of power. It taught me valuable lessons about the importance of family, loyalty, and doing what is right, even in the face of adversity. Watching the characters struggle with their own flaws and imperfections gave me a sense of comfort and validation. It helped me realize that it’s okay to make mistakes and that we can learn and grow from our experiences. The show had a profound impact on my life, influencing my values and inspiring me to pursue my passions. It taught me important life lessons and gave me a sense of community and belonging.

What does home mean to you?

Home means a place where I can completely be myself and feel at ease. It's where I can relax and spend time with my loved ones, creating happy memories with family and friends. Home is also where I can indulge in my hobbies and passions, whether it's reading a book, playing video games, or cooking a delicious meal. For me, home is not just a physical space, but a reflection of my personality and values. It's a place where I can express my creativity, surround myself with the things that make me happy, and feel a sense of belonging. At home, I can truly be myself and recharge after a long day.

What does art mean to you?

Art means a way to explore and appreciate the world around me. It's a way to see things in a new light, to find beauty in unexpected places, and to connect with the stories of others. Through art, I can experience different cultures, time periods, and perspectives, and gain a deeper understanding of human experience. Art allows me to tap into my curiosity and expand my horizons. For me, art is not just a way to enjoy the present moment, but also a way to learn from the past, and to imagine new possibilities for the future. It's a reminder that there is always more to discover and appreciate, and that creativity is a powerful force for good in the world.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

When pursuing your goals, it's important to stay focused and determined, even when faced with challenges or setbacks. Remember that setbacks are a natural part of the process, and they can often provide valuable learning opportunities. Don't be afraid to ask for help or seek out advice from others who have achieved similar goals. Surround yourself with supportive people who believe in your abilities and can help you stay motivated. Finally, be kind to yourself and celebrate the small successes along the way.

What did you want to be growing up?

Growing up, I always wanted to be a teacher. I enjoyed assisting others and bringing them up to a higher level. However, as I grew older my interest in the profession dwindled. I realized that my passion was with something else.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Being a native-born Filipina, I saw in my surroundings how welcoming and inviting people were. This sense of hospitality amongst my family and friends and everyone I came across shaped and molded me into who I would become. These morals and beliefs pushed me to where I am now. Doing something for the genuine care of others. My own cosmetic line that I found is a perfect example of this. I created it with the intent of helping other women be empowered and feel amazing in their own skin and be confident with who they are.

What does home mean to you?

For me, home is not a physical setting, but rather a state of being. Home is where I am at peace with myself and my surroundings. A place that I enter through my heart and that silences the troubles of my life.

What does art mean to you?

Art to me is subjective. Not everything is created equal, but that doesn't mean there isn't beauty everywhere we look. For me, art is being able to see what is in front of me and simply think how beautiful it is. As many have stated before, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

A piece of advice that I would give anyone I encounter is that despite how hard things become, remember that it does get better. We're all fighting our own battles, but it does not mean we are alone. Letting go of the past and fully healing is necessary to make space for the good that will happen in the present and the future. Forgive what has happened and move forward into a new light. Everything happens for a reason, despite how dire it may seem. Keep going!

As a child of immigrants, the whole “not Mexican enough, not American enough” definitely influenced the way I navigated this world.

Home is never really a place, as I can find it in several locations. I’d argue that it’s a feeling of safety, love, and comfort.

What did you want to be growing up?

Growing up I was very indecisive of what I wanted to be as an adult. Maybe because I wanted to do so many things. Thinking that saving lives, or helping others is the best thing to do, I wanted to be a firefighter. Loving art as a young boy, whether it be the music I listen to, the movies I watch, or even stand-up comedy, I wanted to be something that could showcase more of my creative nature, such as being a musician, drummer, comedian, or a writer. I also loved professional wrestling and had fascinations of being a Pro Wrestler like the ones I watched as a young kid.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

Culture influenced me in just the way I carry myself, my mentality, and my daily energy. Being a Hispanic American, I learned in beliefs of hard-work, family values, love and always looking out for your Hermanos e Hermanas. With art on the other hand, that affected more of my mentality and my creativity to how I see the world around me.

What does home mean to you?

To me, Home could be a place, not necessarily your house where you live. It could be your friend's home, your place of work or your favorite establishment you frequent. Where you feel yourself the most. Where you feel comfortable and feel the most at peace.

What does art mean to you?

To me, Art is creation, finding beauty in everyday things. Manifesting something new out of what has been given to you and having the ability to spark a thought, or emotion or feeling.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

"Sit, Chill, Jam, Sip." Someone said that to me. But speaking of myself, I would say, I don't know... Feel. Understand. Learn. Grow. And Do Good.

What did you want to be growing up?

I really didn't have an idea of what I wanted to be because where I come from there weren’t many opportunities. My parents didn't really encourage me to be someone because they themselves didn't have an education, so they couldn't really help me.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

When I attended middle school, I kind of got an idea of what I wanted to do, and that was to work on cars. So, I ended up taking classes to learn all about them and that to me was a form of art. That influenced me because if you think about it, it's an art to be able to work on cars when you are passionate about it and you really do it because you love it.

What does home mean to you?

Home to me means family. It means to have a place to come when you’ve had a long day at work and to see your family and forget about all your problems. So, that's basically what home means to me. Anybody can have a house but not many can have a home.

What does art mean to you?

Art to me is something that you are passionate about. It doesn't matter what kind of art you like, whether you like to paint, draw, take photos, etc. If you see it as a form of art, that means you are an artist.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

Follow your heart and do whatever you like as long as it makes you happy. And make sure that you do it with love and passion.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

When I was young, I was blessed enough to see the Huntington Museum, which showcased the Egyptian art exhibit when it came through town in the late 70s. During this time, I also had the honor of visiting the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA. Seeing these types of cultures influenced me, and have led to various passions in art, architecture, and design.

What does home mean to you?

Home is a Sanctuary. I think it’s important in life to have a space that you can feel safe in. It doesn’t matter who you’re with, just as long as you feel safe.

What does art mean to you?

Art to me is simply being able to appreciate everything around us. From the types of food that we eat, to the kind of music that we listen to. Art is not defined by a definition, but by the people that create it.

What kind of influence did your culture/art have on you as you grew up?

I grew up playing cops and robbers as a young boy. I know it sounds silly, but growing up, remembering what I used to love doing on my free time shaped me into the kind of man that I became.

What does home mean to you?

Home is my safe haven. It’s my place away from all the chaos that the rest of the world can sometimes be. As long as I’m there with the missus, nothing else matters.

What does art mean to you?

Art is anything you can look, touch, and hear that speaks true to your heart. Something may not make sense to someone, but it may mean everything to you. As long as you enjoy it, that’s all that matters.

What is one thing/advice you would like to say to anyone that’s listening?

Do onto others, as you would have them do unto you. It’s simple advice, but one that I stand firm on.
